Product Description

Indoor rock climbing is a sport in which athletes scale artificially designed climbing walls by coordinating their hands and feet to grip and pull themselves up the holds. The walls typically range from 6 to 25 meters in height, with modular composite panels that mimic natural rock formations, and are equipped with professional ropes, harnesses, and other safety gear. Climbing styles include top-rope belaying, lead climbing, and bouldering. Originating in Europe and North America, the sport has been incorporated into school curricula in some countries due to its controllable safety and adjustable difficulty. It became an official Olympic event in 2020 and will once again be featured at the Paris 2024 Games.

This type of artificial climbing wall is constructed by laminating thermally pressed wood panels, coating the exterior with a polyurethane resin—though in China most such walls use paint instead—and supporting the back with a metal steel frame.

Rock-climbing wall technology has undergone numerous evolutions: early on, rock bolts were used to secure holds; this later gave way to wooden panels and synthetic climbing panels; today, the mainstream approach is the use of reconfigurable, 3D-curved sculptural climbing panels.

Common types and characteristics of holds: Based on their shape and method of use, holds can be classified into the following six categories.

BHW25

The primary functions of a climbing hold are to provide a grip (for the hands) or a foothold (for the feet), and to simulate the shape and texture of natural rock.

GPU-01

Bouldering holds (also known as “holds”) are artificial protrusions mounted on artificial or natural rock walls, designed for gripping or stepping, and form the core component of climbing routes.

GFRP-09-1

The material and size of holds selected for different climbing scenarios directly affect their service life and the overall climbing experience, necessitating a scientifically informed selection based on the site conditions and the intended user group.

BHW25-G

Bouldering holds come in various types, depending on their shape and the way force is applied; mastering the corresponding grip techniques can significantly enhance climbing efficiency and safety.

2024 ABS

Climbing holds are protruding fixtures on artificial climbing walls designed for gripping or stepping, typically made of resin or plastic and secured to the wall surface with screws to create routes of varying difficulty.
